Prompts for product key or installation of trial version happen when the EndNote folder that has been downloaded is not unzipped before installation. Please note that you do not need to provide Product Key.

MacOS 10.15 Catalina
Before upgrading to MacOS 10.15 Catalina, update to EndNote X9.3. Follow this advice from Clarivate Analytics.
Note: If you are nearing the end of your project (e.g. your PhD thesis), it is better not to update your operating system.
EndNote is best used with Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Security settings in Safari can prevent direct export from databases.
Installing EndNote
To install EndNote on your own computer, click the link below, read the EndNote@Home conditions, then click the Monash SoftwareGoogle Drive link.

Staff wishing to download EndNote to a Monash supplied device, click on the link below:
Once it is in your Downloads folder, EndNote will need to be installed in your Applications folder.
To install EndNote:
- Make sure no applications are running.
- Start the EndNote installation program by double clicking the downloaded installer file (EndNote-X9OSX.dmg) to display an EndNote X9 folder.
- Drag the EndNote X9 folder to the Applications folder on your hard drive.Double click on the Applications folder, then the EndNote X9 folder, then the EndNote X9 application icon in order to launch EndNote.
- At this point you have the option to register for an EndNote X9 online account.
- Follow the prompts, then Click Done

By default EndNote X9 only installs a selection of the most popular filters, connection files and output styles. Unlike Windows users, Mac users are not offered the Custom installation option during the installation process. Additional connection files, filters and output styles must be installed manually:
- Click on EndNote X9 in top left corner of EndNote menu bar ► Customizer …
- Check every box and click Next, Click Done.
