Wildfire is a free and user-friendly image-processing software, mostly known for its sophisticated flame fractal generator. It is Java-based, open-source and runs on any major computer platform. There is also a special Android-version for mobile devices. Go to the downloads page to get this free program for Windows, Linux or Mac machines. Antenna modeling, especially in Amateur Radio. Widely used as the basis for many GUI-based programs on many platforms (including popular distributions such as 4nec2 and EZnec on Windows, xnec2c on Linux, and cocoaNEC for Mac OS X). cocoaNEC 2.0 is a Mac OS X application for designing and modeling antennas. As indicated by the name, cocoaNEC uses the Cocoa framework of Mac OS X.
The application is free and it can be downloaded from the Download page (which can also be accessed by using the Download tab button at the top of this page). The Xcode project with the cocoaNEC sources can also be downloaded from the same page. For non-commercial use, the source code for cocoaNEC 2.0 is free.
Online tutorials, reference manuals and example files for the application are available through the User's Manualtab button. The What's New page lists features that have changed since the previously released versions of cocoaNEC 2.0.
The Snow Leopard version of cocoaNEC makes use of the Grand Central Dispatch technology in Mac OS X to make use of all the cores on a modern Intel based Macintosh. This version works on both Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) and Lion (Mac OS X 10.7).
The Tiger version of cocoaNEC 2.0 is a Universal Binary application. It runs natively on both Intel based and PowerPC based Macintosh computers that use Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or newer.
Except for the graphics elements, the Tiger version of cocoaNEC uses multiple cores of a processor only when modeling an antenna at multiple frequencies. The Snow Leopard version will use multiple cores for other parts of NEC-2 that are compute intensive.
Please note that the NEC-4 engine cannot make use of Grand Central Dispatch even with the Snow Leopard version of cocoaNEC. Except for the graphics portion of cocoaNEC, multi-core acceleration only functions when you use the internal NEC-2 engine.

The file MEI-10.ZIP contains educational software to evaluate antenna arrays of up to 8 elements. Two types of arrays may be studied: 2D planar arrays (Yagi-Uda, Circular, etc., up to 6 elements) and colinear arrays (up to 8 elements.) This code (including the numerical kernel) was fully developed and written by MEI in 1991 for its internal use. It was released as freeware on June 15, 1997. Significant work needs to be done to make the program user friendly, thus it would be a good idea to check periodically for updates. Please note that this release is an experiment for us and that it is a low priority project. The calculating engine is quite general and can analyze more complex radiating structures. We hope to expand on its capabilities in the future, on a low priority basis. If you have any comments or suggestions for future releases, you are welcome to e-mail these at: freeware@myerseng.com . Presently, all code available for download has been compiled to run under MS-DOS.
